Mathematics Research Students' Conference (MRSC)

The University of Manchester Mathematics Research Students' Conference 2007 will take place on Wednesday 9th May 2007, at Hulme Hall.

The aim of the conference is to provide maths research students here with an opportunity to meet and discuss their own work and research. The conference will be the first of its kind held within the School and will allow postgraduates to meet other postgraduate students in different areas of mathematics, to share ideas through talks and posters. The atmosphere will hopefully remain a friendly one, with the majority of participants being research students from our School.

There will also be an opportunity to socialise at the end of the day with a post-conference wine reception included in the registration (juice also provided)... and then perhaps head off for an evening meal at a nearby restaurant...?!

Proposed format

There will be linear sessions of talks (lasting about 30min) held throughout the day, at a level which all PhD students (regardless of your research area or year) will be able to understand. That way, every student will be able to attend and (hopefully!) understand each and every talk, even if you're a 1st year pure student listening to the works of a 3rd year statistician! As there will be just one talk taking place at any one time, everyone will be able to attend each talk.

A poster session will also take place during the buffet lunch.
