Accommodation

We have reserved a block of rooms in Weston Hall, at £35 per night for bed and breakfast. Weston Hall is part of Manchester Conference Centre, and offers excellent value for accommodation so close to the city centre. It is less than 10 minutes walk from the Alan Turing Building (home of MIMS), as shown on the campus map available here; Weston Hall is number 11 and the Alan Turing Building is number 46.

The reservations are from Sunday 6 July to Saturday 12 July, and rooms can be booked directly by phone, fax or email upon quotation of a conference reference number. This number may be obtained by email from Ellen Pickett. The rooms will be available on a first-come first-served basis; any that are untaken on 1 June 2008 will automatically revert to Weston Hall, after which participants will be responsible for sourcing alternative accommodation.

For those who prefer more luxurious surroundings, it should be possible to stay at Days Hotel (in the same building), or at other nearby hotels. For further information, please contact Ellen Pickett.

Weston Hall is about 5 minutes walk (along Granby Row to Sackville Street) from Manchester Piccadilly rail station, which connects to all parts of the UK by frequent mainline services. These include swift and regular trains to/from Manchester Airport throughout the day. The most frequent are between 600AM and 1100PM, although they run at longer intervals for much of the night. The journey takes about 15 minutes on a fast train, and 25 minutes on a slower train. You can find explicit times at the National Rail Enquiries site.
