MIMS Workshop on
New Directions in Statistics and Biostatistics: Manchester-Tampere Workshop

This workshop is part of the
MIMS
New Directions series of workshops
taking place in MIMS throughout 2008.
The workshop will focus on
recent developments in statistical methodology with application to
medical and environmental studies. Special attention will be paid to
nonparametric smoothing, experimental design and longitudinal data
modelling with application to medical and environmental practices.
The workshop will bring together researchers working in Statistics and Biostatistics in The University of Manchester, UK and University of Tampere, Finland, and to exchange research ideas and strengthen research collaborations between the two universities. Speakers and participants from other universities/institutes are also very welcome. Please contact Professor Jianxin Pan at jianxin.pan@manchester.ac.uk if you wish to attend.
This is a 2-day workshop limited to about 40 participants. Financial support is from the Royal Society, Manchester Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the School of Mathematics, The University of Manchester, and the Academy of Finland. For each external participant, a registration fee £25 will be charged, which includes two lunches and refreshments.
