MIMS Workshop on
New Directions in Toric Topology
4-5 July, 2008
This workshop is part of the
MIMS
New Directions series of workshops
taking place in MIMS throughout 2008.
The workshop immediately precedes the conference New Horizons in Toric Topology (NHTT08), which is due to be held in the School from 7-11 July 2008. It aims to act as a bridge between the conference itself and ongoing EPSRC-funded research into algebraic topological aspects of toric topology.
The workshop is intended for researchers and postgraduate students with interests in algebraic topology, but all are welcome (up to the capacity of the room, which holds about 35). International participants will include Fred Cohen, Ralph Cohen, Natalya Dobrinskaya, Matthias Franz, Mikiya Masuda, Svjetlana Terzić, and Stephen Theriault.
The programme will involve a mixture of specialist reports by international experts, stand-alone lectures on applications of toric methods to algebraic topology, and periods of discussion. The emphasis will be on informality at all times.
Those who want to know more about the subject could start by visiting the Manchester Toric Topology Page.
The organisers are Victor Buchstaber, Jelena Grbić and Nigel Ray
