Information for Presenters
People presenting talks and posters may find the following information useful.
Posters
To help with the making of posters we have created some LaTeX templates which you are welcome to use and modify as you wish. These are:
- Poster Template 1, a simple A1 portrait poster. (Preview). This is the original template we provided, courtesy of Marianne (and whoever else deserves credit!).
- Poster Template 2, an updated version of the A1 portrait template. (Preview). This version fixes some issues with the University of Manchester logo and changes the look. Please read the README file in the ZIP archive before using. There is rather important information there.
- Poster Template 3, an A1 landscape version of Poster Template 2. (Preview). Please check the README file for important information.
- Poster Template 4, an A1 portrait version of Poster Template 2 with a colour scheme some presenters may be more comfortable with. (Preview). Thanks to Andreas Vrahimis for this one. As usual, please check the README file.
- Poster Template 5, an A1 portrait version of Poster Template 2 with a green colour scheme. (Preview). Check the README file for additional info.
The deadline for poster submission is Monday 28 April. Posters should preferably be submitted in PDF or PS form. If this is not possible, speak to the committee and we'll make a plan. Posters will be printed out as soon as we receive them. This is to avoid having to print all the posters out close to the conference date - there is always a chance that the printers break or that there are many other people who need to print posters. Submitting your poster early ensures that it will be ready by 12 May.
Presentations
A whiteboard, flip chart, overhead projector and a data projector will be provided on the day. You are free to use any of these media - in our experience, data and overhead projectors make for the most successful presentations. For LaTeX data presentations, various packages (beamer, prosper) exist with which members of the committee have extensive experience. If you have any trouble with using these, feel free to contact us. We can also give advice on drawing diagrams and pictures in various formats for inclusion into LaTeX posters or presentations. Closer to the date, further details regarding submission of data presentations will be distributed.
